Event Video Booth Examples

In this blog we will take a look at Event Video Booth examples. You will gain inspiration for how to incorporate a Video Booth with effects into your next campaign or experiential event.

Video Booths are a natural extension of photo booths. And with video growing in popularity, on everything from Instagram Reels for Brands to the non-stop growth of TikTok. We know this form of content is here to stay.

What is an Event Video Booth?

A Video Booth allows event attendees to create a fun video content of themselves for sharing online. The beauty of a VFX Video Booth is the content can be customised to suit the event style.

When we say Video Booth, we don’t mean a video diary with audio. We mean a mini film or mini music-video for awesome, on-brand content of your guests.

Incorporating a Video Booth into your event adds a fun activity for guests but crucially, it can create on-brand, elevated content that is shared online.

With the LOOKLOOK Video Booth, you can include sharp edits, slick transition, add filters and custom effects. And create awesome content from your event.

Video Booth Hire from LOOKLOOK ushers in a new era of User-Generated-Content. Slick, custom and completely on-brand graphics, effects, filters, music and edits – applied on the fly, in an instant. Below we demonstrate how you can utilise the technology with video booth examples.

As content creators, we are constantly asked what’s new? What’s hot?  Sometimes we can find the exact solution we are after and sometimes, well, you just have to create it yourself.

The LOOKLOOK VFX (Video Effects Booth) was born out of a gap in the market. We wanted to create custom, MTV-worthy, video effects for our clients.  Content of this quality would normally take weeks to create in an edit suite. But now we have the ability to create customised effects that can be applied instantly, for customers to share quickly with their networks.

Video Booth Design

The Video Booth from LOOKLOOK has many different options when it comes to how the content can look. This is why we work with you to create a brief to streamline the design process.

Video Booth Filters and Effects

Below you can see a mixed-media effect mock-up. Content shown in the video is a mixture of pre-shot content, in this case from an advert, alongside content captured live.

There are different cuts and transitions as well as a desaturation effect.

In the example below we have used a ‘trippy’ effect which gives a blurring to the image. This effect can be uesd on it’s own or alongside other effects.

Music Video Booth

As well as Video Booth effects and filters, we can also create music video booth content. We can layer a music track over the final footage for a completely on-brand experience.

The Music Video for Lizzo’s Juice is a great video booth example. It shows some of the features possible with the VFX video booth. The features are perfect if you want to create an 80’s aesthetic. To clarify, these are just some of the video booth features, the possibilities of VFX Video Booth is endless and would be completely custom to your brand.

Below we will break down the effects and options that are used in this video that can be incorporated into your custom effect.

Video Booth Effects – Colour Filters

In the example above there is a filter, blur effect and colour saturation effect to give a 80’s feel. In essence, this can easily be achieved with a VFX Video Booth for a campaign or event. Especially if your brand event or launch campaign has a 80’s or 90’s feel. Of course these effects will be created bespoke for you and you can edit the effect until you are happy with it.

Video Booth Effects – Edits and Transitions

Lizzo's Music Video Booth

Video transitions have echos of terrible PowerPoint slides, but fear not, they can be a great way to switch up the footage and cut from one shot to the next. In the Lizzo example above the next shot appears as a star in the centre of the screen and stretches out to fill the whole screen. This is obviously cheesy to fit in with the 80’s vibe, but works well in this format. If you are going for less of a cheesy vibe, you can incorporate transitions in a different way with an energetic cut from one shot to another.

Video Booth – Glitch Effect

Video Booth Glitch Effect

At the start of the video they use a Glitch effect a number of times, this ‘pulls’ the footage slightly to one side to distort it and is reminiscent of TV footage of the 80’s.

Video Booth Inspiration

Of course, it’s not just 80’s effects that work well. Modern and minimalist effects work just as well if that is the right fit for your brand activation.

Edits and transitions, like the Louis Vuitton example below, would be possible at a live event. Therefore turning your customers into stars of your own branded advert.

What makes VFX different is that we can create something completely custom for your brand. This could relate to your current campaign, product proof points or an aspect of your brand that you wish to promote. This level of sophistication in terms of customisation enables maximum cut-through. The content is not your run of the mill photo booth hire content but a seamless extension of your brand.

Video Booth Graphics

In the Louis Vuitton above they include a spinning LV logo at the start of the video. To explain further, the logo is a graphic overlay and can be animated, this is possible with the Video Booth VFX from LOOKLOOK.

Video Booth Examples – campaign footage

The Video also uses footage on top of footage. We can have pre-shot footage as a background layer, perhaps from a recent camapign, and the user-generated-footage can sit on top.

Your customers will love to share their on-brand content as it is highly aspirational and not something they could create themselves. They get the chance to be the star of their own video.  Customers can personalise their effect by choosing from a number of different effects and share instantly to their IG Stories as well as other platforms.

Video Booth Case-Study

Junk Yard Golf Club approached LOOKLOOK to come up with a custom photo experience for their London site move, and we knew we could deliver just.the.thing with VFX.

Junk Yard’s clientele is young, outgoing and loves a selfie so we knew we could push the boundaries. We utilised our in-house Creative Studio to deliver an experiential campaign that would be perfect for their customers.

LOOKLOOK’s Creative Studio managed the whole process from start to finish. Specifically,  we worked through the Creative Ideation stage all the way through to technology customisation; set-build and management; staffing and wrap report.

I came in like a wrecking ball

When the brief for Junk Yard came in we knew that we could go big or go home as their customers are discerning when it comes to selfies.  Therefore, after a few brainstorming sessions, we pitched three ideas. Of these ideas the Miley Cyrus Wrecking Ball idea had the most impact both on-site and in terms of the content to be created.

Taking place over one week at Boxpark in Shoreditch, we managed the staffing for the technology side.  Each LOOKLOOK team member was briefed on the aims and outcomes that the client wanted and could promote the upcoming London site move with passion.

The prop and set-build were managed by LOOKLOOK with professional film prop studio taking care of the golf ball prop.

To explain further, the photo technology that we landed on for this experiential event was our gif photo booth software with Video Effects add-on. The video booth (VFX) gave us the option to completely customise the look of the video to suit the client’s needs.  In this case, we opted for a saturated look to have a more grungy edge, a VHS style glitch/ white noise to give a 90’s look, and finally, a zoom effect to mimic a music video.  The results were seriously impressive with each guest taking their turn on the golf ball prop and NAILING their shot.

As a result, the share rates were off the scale with a nearly 70% share rate.

Event Video Booth for Marketing Events

Video as a content format has seen an increase since around 2016 when Facebook really started to incorporate video in their strategy.

“I see video as a megatrend,” Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg, February 2017

In summary, branded videos of customers looking cool or at an aspirational event are a sure-fire way to encourage shares and drop that ever-important #humblebrag.

The popularity of Instagram Stories

Portrait Videos are perfect for sharing on Instagram Stories. Furthermore, VFX shoots in portrait mode which makes it the perfect fit.   Instagram stories launched in 2016 and now has 500 million daily users. This is over 300% growth rate in under three years.

Stories are a marketing powerhouse for brands as they beat the algorithm and contain more off-the-cuff content.  Morover, Live events account for 10% of all IG Stories content as they are a great way to get across a brands personality.

Consumers may have a perfectly curated, colour co-orientated feed which makes it hard to break. However, Stories are more free-form content which makes it more appealing.

In summary, Music Videos have always held a special place for me. And being able to give customers their own 10-sec Music Video is phenomenal.  We know our audiences and know they want content that is personalised to them as well as looking kick-ass. In essence, they want NEXT LEVEL SELFIES.
